Nigerian sensation Ayra Starr, known for her Grammy-nominated prowess, has the music world buzzing with the recent unveiling of the artwork and tracklist for her highly anticipated sophomore album, “The Year I Turned 21.”

On Wednesday, May 1, 2024, Starr surprised her fans by sharing the artwork on her social media platforms. The cover features her leaning against a vintage car with a highway in the background, radiating confidence and style. She announced that the album is available for pre-order and will officially release on May 31, 2024.
Titled “The Year I Turned 21,” also known as TYIT21, the album has garnered significant attention, including from Nigerian music star Wizkid, who expressed his enthusiasm by reposting the artwork with a message of approval, saying, “Love it.”
The album promises an exciting line-up of global collaborations, featuring talents like Nigeria’s Asake and Seyi Vibes, America’s Giveon and Coco Jones, and Brazil’s Anitta, among others. Starr’s journey to musical stardom began in the fashion industry at the age of 16 before she pivoted to music. Her big break came in December 2019 when she caught the attention of renowned record executive Don Jazzy with her original songs on Instagram, leading to her signing with Mavin Records.

In 2022, Starr gained international acclaim with her hit song “Rush,” which charted in multiple countries, including Switzerland, Ireland, and the United Kingdom. With “Rush,” Starr made history as the youngest African female artist to exceed 100 million views on a single YouTube video within five months, marking a significant milestone in her flourishing career.
