Tyrese Gibson, the well-known singer and actor, has found himself in hot water over unpaid child support. TMZ has reported that Tyrese was taken into custody after a court hearing on Monday morning in Fulton County, Georgia, where he faced a judge in his ongoing child support battle. The hearing did not go well for Tyrese, who shares a 5-year-old daughter, Soraya, with his ex-wife Samantha Lee.

Judge Kevin Farmer, clearly frustrated with Tyrese’s lack of compliance, held him in contempt of court for refusing to pay the $10,000 per month he was ordered to pay back in April 2023. Tyrese, who had only been paying $2,200 monthly, was handcuffed and escorted out of the courtroom. The judge stated that Tyrese could avoid jail time by paying $73,000, which includes $7,500 for Samantha’s attorney fees.
On Instagram, just a day before his arrest, Tyrese seemed to anticipate the situation, calling Samantha’s actions “goofy” and insisting he is innocent. He claimed it was all “baby mama drama” and that a prenuptial agreement from their 2020 divorce should have settled everything. Tyrese also criticized Samantha’s legal team, saying they didn’t bother to review his bank statements, which he claims would show he’s been making payments. Instead, they looked at his movie credits on IMDb and saw him as a financial target.
It’s not the first time Tyrese has had issues with Judge Farmer. The two have had a contentious relationship, including a heated showdown in 2022. As of now, Tyrese is reportedly making arrangements to pay the $73,000, which means he might not be in custody for much longer. This situation highlights the challenges and complexities of high-profile divorce and child support cases, even for celebrities.
