“Uchungu Wa Mwana” by DDC Mlimani Park Orchestra is a timeless Tanzanian muziki wa dansi hit, released at the height of the band’s success in the 1980s. The title, which means “The Pain of a Child,” draws from the Swahili proverb “Uchungu wa mwana aujuaye ni mzazi”—”Only a parent knows the pain of their child.” The song beautifully captures themes of parental love, sacrifice, and the emotional challenges they face.
