Shiloh Jolie-Pitt Drops Father's Last Name Following 'Painful Events'

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s daughter, Shiloh, has chosen to drop her father’s last name, marking a significant personal decision following recent challenging experiences.

Shiloh, now 18, filed for the name change on her birthday, May 27. The legal notice was published in the Los Angeles Times, complying with California law. Her lawyer, Peter Levine, clarified that the publication was a legal requirement, not a public announcement initiated by Shiloh.

“Shiloh Jolie did not take out an ‘ad’ announcing any name change,” Levine stated. “Any press reporting that is inaccurate. As her attorney, I am required to publish a legal notice because the law in California mandates it for anyone who wants to change their name.”

This decision follows a series of ‘painful events’ Shiloh experienced, though specific details remain private. Shiloh’s siblings, Zahara and Vivienne, have also chosen to drop Pitt from their names, with Zahara’s change being legally confirmed.

Brad Pitt reportedly has ‘virtually no contact’ with his older children, including Shiloh. A source revealed that his relationship with his older children remains strained, and his engagement with his younger kids has been limited due to his filming schedule.

Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Brad Pitt in 2019 after five years of marriage. The former couple continues to face legal disputes, including a contentious battle over their French vineyard and home, following Jolie’s sale of her $64 million stake to Russian billionaire Yuri Shefler in 2021.
