In a notable gaffe at a NATO summit, President Joe Biden mistakenly referred to Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky as “President Putin” and Vice President Kamala Harris as “Vice President Trump.”

The incident occurred during an international summit in Washington DC, where Biden stood alongside 23 allied world leaders. During his speech, he emphasized the importance of protecting Ukraine from Russian aggression. However, when turning to introduce President Zelensky, he inadvertently called him by the wrong name, saying, “Now, I want to hand over to the President of Ukraine, who has as much courage as he has determination. Ladies and gentlemen: President Putin.”

Realizing his mistake, Biden quickly attempted to clarify, stating, “I’m so focused on beating Putin.” Zelensky, maintaining his composure, responded with, “I’m better,” to which Biden replied, “You’re a hell of a lot better.”

Later, during a second press conference, Biden was asked about Vice President Kamala Harris’s qualifications to assume the presidency if needed. In his response, he mistakenly referred to her as “Vice President Trump,” saying, “I wouldn’t have picked Vice President Trump to be vice president, but I think she is qualified to be president.”

Former President Donald Trump seized on the moment, posting on social media, “Great job, Joe!” In response, Biden wrote on X, “By the way: Yes, I know the difference. One’s a prosecutor, and the other’s a felon.”

These mistakes have fueled ongoing concerns about Biden’s age and cognitive abilities, prompting calls for him to address these issues more publicly. Despite these slip-ups, Biden later defended his health, emphasizing his commitment to appearing more frequently at public events to “allay” concerns.
