American singer Ray J has claimed that his infamous sex tape with ex-girlfriend Kim Kardashian paved the way for adult content platforms like OnlyFans. During a wide-ranging interview on the Club Shay Shay podcast with Shannon Sharpe, Ray J reflected on the impact of their 2007 video, “Kim Kardashian, Superstar.”

The 43-year-old musician suggested that “more people would be going to college” if it weren’t for the tape, adding, “there might not be any OnlyFans and other things like that.”
Ray J also expressed his mixed feelings about the situation, saying, “Are we a part of the cure or are we a part of the disease? I don’t f*g know. I’m just trying to make it right.” He admitted that his perspective has changed since becoming a father and that he feels embarrassed about the tape’s release.
The interview is not the first time Ray J has spoken about the sex tape. In 2022, he claimed that Kim’s mother, Kris Jenner, selected one of three sex tapes for release. He also alleged that Kris introduced him to Vivid CEO Steven Hirsch, the company that released the tape in 2007. Jenner has denied any involvement and passed a polygraph test on “The Late Late Show,” affirming she did not arrange for the tape’s release.
Ray J and Kim dated on and off from 2003 to 2007. Ray J has two children with his estranged wife, Princess Love, while Kim shares four children with her ex-husband Kanye West.
