Why do people want a Cannes security guard to be banned – is this female officer racist?

The Cannes Film Festival, also known as the Festival de Cannes, is the world’s most prestigious film gathering and its most widely publicized cultural event. Established in 1946, it has become a major forum for film-producing countries. The festival is renowned for its history, film selections, and prestigious prizes, attracting filmmakers, celebrities, and industry professionals from around the globe.

What happened to Kelly Rowland and the Cannes usher?

New footage has surfaced just days after Kelly Rowland’s video with a security guard went viral during the “Marcello Mio” premiere.

In an interview with the Associated Press at the amfAR Cannes Gala, the “Mea Culpa” actress discussed her encounter with the Cannes usher, saying, “The woman knows what happened, I know what happened, and I have a boundary. I stand by those boundaries, and that is it.”

She continued, “There were other women on that carpet who didn’t look like me. They weren’t scolded, pushed off, or told to leave. I stood my ground, and she felt she needed to stand hers.”

Massiel Taveras Crush with the same Cannes usher

The Cannes usher, who recently made headlines for an altercation with Kelly Rowland on the festival’s red carpet, was involved in a similar incident with Dominican star Massiel Taveras. In the viral clip, Taveras is seen arranging the train of her gown, featuring a prominent portrait of Jesus, on the red carpet stairs when the usher hurried her along.

Despite being guided by multiple ushers, the “El Encuentro” actress repeatedly tried to spread her train across the grand stairs for the perfect shot. At the top of the stairs, Taveras once again attempted to spread out her gown’s train for photos, but the usher blocked her with an arm, mirroring her actions during the Rowland incident. The situation escalated when the usher put an arm around Taveras to move her away, prompting the actress to shove her.

Other ushers defend the racist usher

After Rowland suggested racism in her interview, colleagues of the Cannes usher defended her, claiming she was just doing her job. Other security staff at the tightly controlled event also supported the usher’s actions as necessary. An insider told the Daily Mail, “She was under a lot of pressure to keep people moving on the carpet and prevent crowd buildup.

There was no pushing, shoving, or scolding involved. Security and safety are top priorities, and even celebrities must adhere to strict schedules set by contracts.” The source added, “Numerous ushers are involved, and they always act professionally and politely. In this case, the usher was simply performing her duties and did nothing wrong.”

About what is done in the festivals

The annual Cannes Film Festival is renowned for its stringent red carpet-policies. Attendees must adhere to strict protocols regarding their appearance and behavior while walking the red carpet. For instance, taking selfies or using personal cameras is prohibited. Previously, women were required to wear heels, but this rule was changed after backlash in 2015.

Guests are also hurried along if they linger on the carpet for too long. Kelly Rowland is not the first to be ushered off the red carpet; in 2013, socialite and Cannes regular Lady Victoria Hervey was asked to leave after spending too much time posing for photographers outside the Palais.
