Djouna – Big One

Djouna Big-One, also known as Djouna Mumbafu, has made a name for himself as a prominent animateur (atalaku) and dancer within Empire Bakuba. He recently unveiled his latest song titled “Big One.”

In 2004, Djouna released his first solo album, “Tonnerre de Brest,” along with a live DVD. The album included the song “6600 Volts,” which brought him to the finals of the Kora Awards in the same year, although he did not win the award. His band, Orchestre Big One, includes Ali Kalle, the younger brother of Pepe Kalle, who contributes vocals reminiscent of Pepe’s style. The album “Tonnerre de Brest” itself showcases a range of modern Congolese music styles, including soukous and dombolo, and was released in 2004 by Advantages+ Productions.
