Aurlus Mabele, born Benoit Aurélien Miatsonama on October 24, 1953, in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo, was a celebrated Congolese singer and composer known as the “King of Soukous.” He founded Loketo in 1986 alongside Diblo Dibala and Mav Cacharel, achieving fame with his soukous music across Africa and beyond. Mabele sold over 10 million albums in his 25-year career, contributing significantly to the global recognition of soukous music. Despite health challenges, including a stroke and throat cancer, Mabele continued to perform until his death on March 19, 2020, in Eaubonne, France.
