Tekashi 6ix9ine Arrested in the Dominican Republic on Domestic Violence Allegations

Controversial American rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine, whose real name is Daniel Hernández, has been arrested by Dominican authorities on charges of domestic violence. The 27-year-old rapper found himself in legal trouble once again, this time in the Caribbean nation’s capital, Santo Domingo.

As reported by The Associated Press, Tekashi was taken into custody on Wednesday, January 18. He is currently being held in jail and is expected to appear in court on Thursday. During this hearing, a judge will determine whether Tekashi should remain in detention or be released on bond while the investigation continues.

This is not the rapper’s first encounter with the law. In October, he was arrested at a seaside hotel in the Dominican Republic after allegedly assaulting a local music producer. At that time, Hernández and his partner, Dominican rapper Yailín la Más Viral, were working at the producer’s studio.

Tekashi 6ix9ine has also faced legal challenges in the United States. He was accused of involving a violent gang, the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods, as his “personal hit squad.” However, he managed to avoid a prison sentence by testifying against the gang members. Despite his cooperation, a U.S. judge had previously deemed him a likely danger to the community, holding him without bail during his trial on racketeering and firearms charges.
