Tanzanian sports enthusiast Haji Sunday Ramadhani Manara has made a surprising announcement on December 13, 2023, declaring his decision to no longer support Manchester United, a team he had been a fan of for a long time.

In his statement, Manara emphasized that his decision was made voluntarily, without any external pressure or persuasion. He expressed a clear shift in his football allegiance, stating that aside from his unwavering support for the Tanzanian club Young Africans (Yanga), he will not be cheering for any other team globally. Manara mentioned his intent to simply enjoy good football, regardless of the team playing.
He also requested not to be associated with Manchester United in any form of jest or otherwise, expressing his dissatisfaction with the Glazier family, the owners of the club, and their management, which includes a reference to a bald individual, likely a figure in the club’s leadership.
Manara’s statement reflects a sense of frustration, hinting that being a fan of Manchester United was affecting his peace of mind. He concluded with a light-hearted remark, indicating that Manchester United is neither his parent nor his partner Zai Lissa, implying that his attachment to the team is not deep enough to cause significant distress in his life.
