Duane Davis 'Keffe D' a Suspect in Tupac's Murder Seeks House Arrest Due to Health Concerns

Duane “Keffe D” Davis, a former gang leader charged with involvement in the murder of iconic rapper Tupac Shakur, has filed a request to be placed under house arrest before his trial. His legal team, citing Davis’ deteriorating health, is pushing for his release from jail, arguing that he has not received adequate medical care while incarcerated.

Davis, who previously battled colon cancer, is reportedly suffering from health issues exacerbated by his current jail conditions. His attorneys, Robert Arroyo and Charles Cano, emphasized in their bail motion that his age and medical history are negatively affected by the lack of proper diet and exercise in jail. The motion, filed on December 14th before Clark County District Court Judge Carli Kierny, suggests a bail amount no higher than $100,000.

Furthermore, Davis’ legal team argues that he poses no threat to the community and is not a flight risk, highlighting that he has been home for over two months since his indictment following a raid on his home.

The motion also challenges the credibility of the evidence against Davis, labeling the testimonies against him as based on hearsay and calling the witnesses unreliable. It points out that his memoir, “COMPTON STREET LEGEND,” which purportedly details his involvement in Shakur’s drive-by shooting, was written for entertainment purposes and should not be considered factual evidence.

In the memoir, Davis describes a tense moment where he allegedly “locked eyes” with Tupac before the shooting. He claims the book and interviews were conducted solely for entertainment and profit, not as confessions.

Before the infamous shooting, Tupac had an altercation with Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson, Davis’ nephew and a member of the South Side Compton Crips. Anderson, who was also in the car with Davis during the incident, maintained his innocence until his death in a shooting in Compton in 1998.

Since his arrest on September 29, Davis has been held without bail at the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas. His trial is set for June, with the upcoming hearing on January 2nd likely to decide the fate of his bail request.
