Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder Reach Agreement for Long-Awaited Showdown

Boxing heavyweights Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder have reportedly reached an agreement for a much-anticipated bout, set to take place in the new year, provided they both secure victories in their upcoming fights next weekend.

ESPN journalist Mike Coppinger revealed that the deal is set for March 9, contingent on both fighters winning their respective matches. This matchup has been a long time coming, as attempts to arrange a fight between the two back in 2018 and 2019 fell through. At that time, both were heavyweight world champions, and a bout would have been an undisputed title showdown. However, since then, both have lost their titles.

Originally, representatives for Joshua and Wilder had agreed to a fight in Saudi Arabia this December, but the plan did not materialize. Instead, the pair will headline the ‘Day of Reckoning’ event on December 23, also in Saudi Arabia. Joshua is set to face Otto Wallin, while Wilder will compete against New Zealand’s Joseph Parker.

This upcoming event and the potential matchup between Joshua and Wilder are generating significant excitement in the boxing world, as fans eagerly anticipate a clash between two of the sport’s most prominent figures.
