Rema Cancels All Performances for the Rest of 2023 Due to Health Concerns

Afrobeats superstar Rema has made a significant announcement on his social media platforms, stating that he will not be performing for the remainder of 2023. This news was shared on his Instagram story today, where he expressed his regret and the health-related reasons behind this decision.

Rema explained that after years of ignoring his health due to continuous touring, he needs time to recuperate. His statement read, “breaks my heart to say that I won’t be performing anywhere this December, been years of touring I’ve ignored my health and i need time to recuperate. 2024 we go again. love.”

This announcement comes as a disappointment to fans who were eagerly anticipating his performances, especially during the popular Detty December events. However, the health and well-being of the artist take precedence.

Rema’s decision affects his planned homecoming tour, which included stops in Abuja, Lagos, and his native Benin. He was also scheduled to perform at the Hey Neighbor Music Festival in South Africa from December 8 to 10.

Despite this setback, Rema has had a remarkable year with notable achievements. His song “Calm Down” made history on both Apple Music and Spotify, ranking 12th on the global top 100 most streamed songs on Apple Music and 8th on Spotify’s top 10 chart of most streamed tracks globally, a first for a Nigerian Afrobeats artist.

Fans will have to wait until 2024 for Rema’s return to the stage, but in the meantime, they can continue to enjoy his music and support him in his journey towards recovery.
