Jamie Foxx Accused of Sexual Assault in New Lawsuit

Jamie Foxx, a prominent figure in Hollywood for over two decades, faces serious allegations following a lawsuit filed against him in a New York court. The suit, submitted just before the expiration of New York’s Adult Survivors Act, accuses the actor of sexually assaulting a woman in a Manhattan bar.

The Adult Survivors Act, a state-specific law, enables adults claiming to be victims of sexual abuse to pursue civil lawsuits and seek damages, irrespective of the statute of limitations. The complaint, officially dated Monday, was registered in the New York State Courts e-filing system on Wednesday.

According to the lawsuit, the alleged incident took place on August 26, 2015, at Catch NYC & Roof, a rooftop bar in Manhattan. The plaintiff, identified only as Jane Doe, claims that after she requested a photo with Foxx, he responded affirmatively but then proceeded to grope her until her friend intervened.

The woman asserts that the encounter with Foxx caused her extreme emotional distress, leaving her “sick, sore, lame, and disabled,” necessitating medical attention.

At the time of the alleged incident, Foxx was reportedly in a relationship with Katie Holmes, with several sources confirming their breakup in 2019.

In a separate note, Foxx faced health challenges earlier this year. He was hospitalized due to a “medical complication” while filming “Back in Action” in April, as shared by his daughter. Though Foxx and his close ones have been tight-lipped about the specifics of his hospitalization, in July, he described his experience as taking him “to hell and back.”

As of now, representatives for Foxx, Catch NYC & Roof, and the attorney representing the plaintiff have not responded to requests for comment on the matter.

This case adds to a series of high-profile legal challenges faced by celebrities, indicating a continuing trend of accountability and legal action in matters of personal conduct and sexual misconduct in the entertainment industry.
