A lawsuit, filed this Thursday and sourced by PEOPLE, details that Abe Diaw, the plaintiff, alleges that Brown assaulted him with a bottle of Don Julio 1942 tequila. The incident supposedly occurred in February at the popular TAPE nightclub in London.

Brown, aged 34, is accused of delivering “crushing blows” to Diaw’s head, rendering him unconscious. But the assault didn’t end there; Diaw’s statement claims that Brown continued to violently stomp on him for a prolonged 30 seconds. Diaw, who was 43 during the incident, reportedly suffered lacerations on his head and torn ligaments in his leg, the severity of which resulted in “permanent” physical damage and has also caused him “severe emotional distress.”

Interestingly, Diaw asserts that the entire altercation was captured on TAPE’s surveillance system. Demanding justice, Diaw is now suing the singer for damages and has expressed a desire for the case to be settled by a jury. Brown’s representatives and legal team have yet to respond to PEOPLE’s request for an official statement on the matter.

Chris Brown is no stranger to legal predicaments. His tumultuous legal past dates back to 2009, when he faced significant backlash for physically assaulting his then-girlfriend, Rihanna. The event left Rihanna hospitalized with visible facial injuries. Following this, Brown was slapped with charges of felony assault and making criminal threats. He later pleaded guilty and was sentenced to community service, a five-year probation, and mandatory domestic violence counseling.

Celebrating his completion of the yearlong domestic violence course in 2010, Brown took to Twitter, stating, “I have enough self respect and decency to be proud of accomplishing this DV class. Boyz run from [their] mistakes. Men learn from them!!!”

However, his troubles didn’t stop there. As recent as May this year, rumors swirled around an altercation between Brown and another famed artist, Usher, just a day before their performance at the Lovers & Friends music festival in Las Vegas. The dispute reportedly initiated at Usher’s birthday party, culminating in Usher apparently sporting a bloody nose, as noted by TMZ.
