Embracing her artistic identity, Yo-Landi chose the name “Yolandi” which translates to “Violet purple flower” in English.

When she turned 16, Yolandi’s parents sent her to Menlopark High School, a boarding school located nine hours away from their home. It was at this school where she found her place among other creative and artistic-minded individuals, and she blossomed in this environment.

Yo-Landi Visser’s musical journey began when her unique vocals caught the attention of the South African rapper and actor, Watkin Tudor Jones, also known as Ninja. He included her in the music band titled The Constructus Corporation, where she was nicknamed “Anica the Snuffling” and played a significant role as a vocalist and backup singer. Together, they successfully released their first album titled The Ziggurat in 2003.
