In light of the ongoing success of ‘Calm Down,’ American popstar Selena Gomez recently took to her social media to express her heartfelt appreciation to the Nigerian superstar for what she describes as a life-changing experience.

“This man has forever changed my life. Rema, thank you for selecting me to be a part of one of the biggest songs in the world. Love you forever @heisrema,” Selena Gomez shared on her Instagram account on July 2nd, 2023.

Since its release in February 2022 as a lead single from Rema’s debut album ‘Raves & Roses,’ ‘Calm Down’ has enjoyed remarkable global achievements. It holds the Guinness World Record as the first artist to top the inaugural charts in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

The track has reached significant positions on numerous charts worldwide. In the United States, it peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, setting a new Nigerian record and becoming the second highest-charting African song to date. In the UK, it also achieved a peak position of No. 3 on the Official Singles Chart, while securing the top spot in India and the Middle East.

Moreover, ‘Calm Down’ holds the streaming record for an Afrobeats song on Spotify and boasts the distinction of being the most-watched music video by a Nigerian artist on YouTube.
