Sigourney Weaver, born as Susan Alexandra Weaver on October 8, 1949, in Manhattan, New York City, is the daughter of Sylvester L. Weaver Jr., a TV producer, and Elizabeth Inglis, a former actress. Weaver’s father wanted to name her Flavia due to his love for Roman history, but ultimately, she was named Susan Alexandra Weaver.
When Weaver was a child, her family moved frequently, and she was raised by nannies and maids. She attended several schools, including the Ethel Walker School, Brearley School, and Chapin School, but as she was taller than most of the other children, she often felt like an outsider.
After finishing high school, Weaver traveled to Israel and worked on a kibbutz for several months.
