Tyrese Gibson faces serious consequences for his child support case, as a Fulton County court judge has ruled against him. The judge, whom the actor accused of being “racist,” has ordered him to pay a staggering $636,000 to his ex-wife, Samantha Lee Gibson, for child support and legal fees. The actor reportedly violated a previous order and failed to pay $10,000 a month in August 2022.

Tyrese Publicly Called Out The Judge, Disobeyed Previous Order

On Tuesday (April 25), Tyrese Gibson, known for his role in “Fast & Furious,” was found in contempt by a judge in Fulton County court during a child support hearing. As a result, the actor and singer must pay $636,000 to his ex-wife, Samantha Lee Gibson, which includes child support and legal fees. The judge, whom Tyrese called “racist,” ordered him to pay $258,000 by May 15, with $250,000 going to child support and nearly $400,000 to her attorney.

During the hearing, the judge revealed that Tyrese defied the court’s previous order to pay $10,000 per month in child support, opting to pay only around $2,000 per month. Although the actor could have been arrested for disobeying the court’s order, the judge was lenient. Tyrese believes that his ex-wife, a certified social worker, does not require as much money as she earns well.

Tyrese released a video after the hearing, urging civil rights attorneys such as Ben Crump and Martin Luther King III to attend his court appearance to support him against the “biased” judge. His attorney, Tanya Mitchell Graham, has decided to file an appeal and has already filed a motion for a new trial.

Tyrese Never Wanted To Fork Out Spousal Support

From the onset of the trial, Tyrese has been unwilling to provide spousal support to his ex-wife, Samantha Lee Gibson, who he claims is a wasteful spender. During a hearing in August of last year, Tyrese’s attorney, Tanya Mitchell Graham, questioned Samantha about her expenditures from two years prior, which included $1,740 for cosmetic surgery.

In contrast, Tyrese sought to avoid spousal support and keep his 2016 Range Rover. He also requested joint physical and legal custody of their daughter, Soraya Gibson, which the judge appears to be unsupportive of.

After three years of marriage, Samantha Lee filed for divorce from Tyrese in September 2021. In the divorce documents, Samantha accused Tyrese of changing the locks to their home in Georgia, an allegation that he has denied. She also claimed that he cut her off financially.

Samantha, who is a licensed social worker, married the actor in 2017, and they welcomed their daughter, Soraya Somer Gibson, in October 2018. Prior to his marriage to Samantha, Tyrese was married to Norma Mitchell, with whom he shares one child.
