Biography

Tina Dabi attended the Convent of Jesus and Mary school in New Delhi, where she excelled in her studies and topped the CBSE class 12th board in political science with the highest score. She went on to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Lady Shri Ram College for Women. Her ultimate goal was to become an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer and serve the people of India. Her desire was to empower women in Haryana, and she hoped to inspire other girls to excel in their studies and succeed in the UPSC exam.

Family And Her Relationship

Tina was born into a respectable Hindu family in Bhopal, and her family relocated to Delhi when she was in the seventh grade. Although she adheres to Hinduism, some members of her family follow Buddhism. Tina belongs to the SC caste, and all the members of her family are government employees. Her father, Jaswant Dabi, served as the General Manager of Telecom Corporation of India Limited BSNL.

Her First Marriage

Tina Dabi’s first marriage was with Athar Khan, the second-highest scorer in the UPSC Civil Services Examination of 2015. They grew close to each other during their training at LBS Academy in Dehradun. Their marriage created quite a buzz in the media. However, their union was short-lived, and on November 20, 2020, the IAS couple mutually filed for divorce in a family court in Jaipur. The court granted their divorce on August 10, 2021.

Second Marriage

Tina Dabi is currently contemplating her second marriage. She is set to tie the knot with Pradeep Gawande, an IAS officer posted in Rajasthan. Interestingly, Pradeep had been a doctor before joining the IAS.

Career

Tina Dabi’s career journey began when she decided to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Lady Shri Ram College for Women. After completing her degree, she appeared for the UPSC Civil Services Examination in 2015 and secured the top rank, thereby becoming the first-ever Indian to do so. This achievement made her an overnight sensation and an inspiration to millions of young students across the country.

After clearing the UPSC exam, Tina was allotted the Rajasthan cadre and joined the Rajasthan Administrative Service as a sub-divisional magistrate in the Bhilwara district. She then moved to the Finance Department of Rajasthan and worked as an Assistant Secretary before being promoted to Deputy Secretary.

In 2018, Tina took a break from her administrative career to pursue a Master’s degree in Public Policy from Columbia University in New York. After completing her studies, she returned to India and resumed her career as a Deputy Secretary in the Finance Department of Rajasthan.
