Saira Banu made her debut in the film industry at the young age of sixteen, despite her lack of experience and training. Her first film was ‘Junglee’ in 1961, directed and produced by Subodh Mukherjee, where she played opposite Shammi Kapoor, a prominent actor of Hindi cinema during that era. Her commendable performance in the movie earned her a nomination for the Best Actress award at the Filmfare Awards.
The following year, Saira Banu appeared in ‘Shaadi’ with Dharmendra, another well-known Indian actor. In 1963, she acted in ‘Bluffmaster’ with Shammi Kapoor for the second time.
