Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are currently hosting a Tera Raid Event, featuring the legendary Paradox Pokemon. As part of the event, you can engage in Tera Raid Battles to battle and catch these legendary creatures. Specifically, players with Pokemon Violet will have the opportunity to encounter Iron Leaves.

The event will be available until March 12, at 11:59 PM UTC. Although there is ample time to participate in the event, it is still limited, and players are encouraged to act quickly. To make it easier for you to catch Iron Leaves, we’ve compiled some tips and information.
What Is Iron Leaves?
Iron Leaves is a special version of Virizion, a legendary Pokemon from the fifth generation. It’s a Grass/Psychic-type Pokemon, with Psychic as its Tera Type. As a Tera Raid Boss, Iron Leaves is level 75 and has the ability Quark Drive, which boosts its Speed stat when standing on Electric Terrain or holding Booster Energy.
Iron Leaves’ Moveset
Iron Leaves’ moves consist of the following:

In Tera Raid Battles, Iron Leaves will begin by setting up Electric Terrain, even though it is not a move in its regular moveset. This not only triggers its Quark Drive ability but also increases the power of its Psyblade move.
How To Find Iron Leaves
Iron Leaves, the Future Paradox form of Virizion, can be found in 5-Star Tera Raid Dens in Pokémon Violet. To unlock dens of that difficulty, you need to complete the game and watch the end credits. After that, Professor Jacq will notify you that the harder Raid Dens are now available. The event lasts until March 12, so there is plenty of time to complete the story if you haven’t already.
If you have Pokémon Scarlet, you can still catch Iron Leaves by joining the Tera Raid of a friend who has Pokémon Violet through a Link Code or finding someone hosting an Iron Leaves Tera Raid Battle on the online Tera Raid Board.
To find an Event Tera Raid Den in Pokémon Violet, look for a sparkling den on your map. The den will sparkle noticeably more than normal dens. Iron Leaves will only have Psychic as its Tera Type, making it easier to locate.
If you cannot find any Iron Leaves Tera Raid Dens, you can change your clock’s time in the System Settings. Setting the time to one minute before the new day begins (11:59 PM), then returning to the game and waiting for the clock to change to the next day, will refresh all the dens, including outbreaks, into new ones. If you still can’t find Iron Leaves, repeat the process until you eventually find one.
What Type/Pokémon To Use?
Iron Leaves is a dual Grass/Psychic-type Pokémon with Psychic as its Tera Type. This makes Bug, Ghost, and Dark types effective against it, but be cautious when using Dark types due to Iron Leaves having access to Megahorn. If you don’t have any of those types, your best bet would be to use Pokemon that are resistant or immune to Iron Leaves’ attacks, specifically Psyblade.
Dark types are immune, while Psychic and Steel types are resistant. It’s also recommended to use a Pokémon that can handle Iron Leaves’ power and speed, as well as its Psychic Tera-Type. A good option would be Froslass, as it can resist Iron Leaves’ moves and has a move pool to deal with its Speed and Attack stats.
Strategy
To start off the battle, you should try to get rid of Iron Leaves’ Electric Terrain as soon as possible, which will activate its Quark Drive ability and boost the power of its move Psyblade. While there are options like Grassy, Misty, or Psychic Terrain to replace it, using Ice Spinner to completely remove the terrain is the best choice.
Iron Leaves’ Swords Dance can make up for the lack of Electric Terrain to boost Psyblade’s power, so it’s crucial to lower its Attack stat using moves like Charm before it puts up its shield. Be aware that its shield will render status moves useless against it, so it’s important to act quickly. Another helpful move to use is Reflect, which will reduce the damage your team takes from its physical moves.
Iron Leaves’ base Sp. Def stat is significantly higher than its Defense, so using special attacks is a better option to deal damage. However, there aren’t many physical attacking Pokemon that are super effective against Psychic-types, so it’s better to raise your Sp. Atk power or lower Iron Leaves’ Sp. Def stat using moves like Shadow Ball.
In summary, the strategy to defeat Iron Leaves is to remove its Electric Terrain with Ice Spinner, lower its Attack stat with Charm, use Reflect to reduce physical damage, and attack with special moves like Shadow Ball to lower its Sp. Def stat.
Catching Iron Leaves
Once you’ve successfully defeated Iron Leaves in battle, you’ll have the opportunity to catch it with a guaranteed 100% success rate. However, it’s important to note that this legendary Paradox Pokémon can only be caught once per save file, so you’ll need to choose carefully which PokeBall to use. It’s recommended to use a stronger PokeBall like an Ultra Ball or a Master Ball to increase your chances of catching it successfully. Keep in mind that Iron Leaves is a powerful and elusive Pokémon, so be sure to come prepared with plenty of healing items and status condition healers before attempting to catch it.
