Belonging to a family of actors, Joshi’s father Gajanan Joshi was a popular figure in the Marathi film industry during the early 1970s. Her mother was also an accomplished stage actress from the same era.
Joshi’s foray into acting began at the tender age of 10 in the Marathi film industry. In 1990, she tied the knot with actor Ashok Saraf, and together, they have a son named Aniket Saraf, who is a chef by profession.

Her debut as a child actor was in 1977’s drama film ‘Apnapan’, in which she portrayed a beggar. She went on to work in two more films as a child actor, namely ‘Jalan’ and ‘Parivartan’. In 1985, she appeared in the film ‘Ardhangi’.
In 1987, she played the character of Chutki Singh in the action thriller film ‘Naam O Nishan’, which starred Sanjay Dutt. That same year, she portrayed Rajni Mathur in the crime film ‘Marte Dam Tak’, in which Raaj Kumar and Govinda played the lead roles.
She essayed the character of Kamla in the 1988 film ‘Ghar Mein Ram Gali Mein Shyam’ and was cast as Madhuri in the movie ‘Sarvashrestha’ in the same year. She also appeared in the film ‘Afsar’. In the 1991 action drama film ‘Narsimha’, starring Sunny Deol, she played the role of Seema.
