“Deeply saddened to learn about the sad demise of Smt #KrishnaRajKapoorJi. She was one of the most dignified and affectionate ladies that I met. May her soul rest in peace. My condolences to the entire Kapoor and Nanda family. Om Shanti,” Anupam Kher wrote on the microblogging site.

Krishna Kapoor, the widow of the legendary Bollywood actor-film-maker RajKapoor, died on Monday in Mumbai. The 87-year-old who had married Raj Kapoor in May 1946, is survived by her sons Randhir Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, and Rajiv Kapoor, and daughters Ritu Nanda and Rima Kapoor-Jain. Her death was announced by her eldest son, Randhir on Monday morning.

Raj Kapoor was the original showman. His films are a landmark in Indian cinema. He has inspired millions with his work and his films continue to be an inspiration to this very day. Be it Awara or Mera Naam Joker or Sangam or Satyam Shivam Sundaram or Ram Teri Ganga Maili. His films were one of a kind and not to forget they were also massive box office hits!
