Wordle New York Times
Josh Wardle, a software engineer, created the game that took the world by storm. After its meteoric rise in popularity, he sold the game to the New York Times.
In a statement on Twitter, Wardle expressed his amazement at the overwhelming response to Wordle. He wrote, “Since launching Wordle, I have been blown away by the incredible feedback from everyone who has played it.
“The game has exceeded my wildest expectations (though that’s not saying much since I originally made it just for myself). It’s been amazing to see the game bring so much joy to so many people, and I’m incredibly grateful for the personal stories that some of you have shared with me. From Wordle bringing distant family members together to inspiring friendly competition and even aiding in medical recoveries.
“On the other hand, I would be lying if I said it hasn’t been overwhelming.”
