What was the reason behind the death of Jay Briscoe?

Unfortunately, the ROH star Jay Briscoe whose real name is Jamin Pugh has passed away at the age of 38 in a car accident. He was a longtime fixture in Ring of Honor. The news of his death was confirmed by AEW founder Tony Khan who purchased Ring of Honor last March.

AEW President Tony Khan took to his Twitter page and wrote, “Sadly, Jamin Pugh has passed away. Known to fans as Jay Briscoe, he was a star in ROH for over 20 years, from the first show until today.”

Tony went on to say, “Jay and his brother Mark dominated ROH, reigning as champions to this day. We’ll do whatever we can to support his family. Rest In Peace Jamin”

According to a report by New York Post, pro wrestling reporter Dave Meltzer has disclosed that Briscoe was one of the two people who died in a car accident that took place in Laurel, Delaware.

Cody Rhodes tweeted, “I didn’t interact much with him, but upon meeting Jay I instantly understood something about him…his family was his everything. All the love in the world to them this evening.”

Cash Wheeler also expressed his thoughts on the untimely death of Jay Briscoe on Twitter. He wrote, “I’ve been in tears since I heard the news. I just don’t have the words. Rest in Peace Jay.”

AEW’s Christopher Daniels added, “Jay Briscoe was one of the toughest men I ever had the privilege of sharing a ring with, as well as being a tremendous brother, father, and man. I’m so happy to have had the opportunity to know him and wrestle him as often as I did. Rest in Peace, Jay, I love you.”
