About
Since its inception on November 21, 1973, NECTA has had a leadership list.
Tanzania’s National Examinations and Their Purposes
NECTA’s History in Brief
The Curriculum and Examinations Section of the Ministry of Education was in charge of all examinations after Tanzania Mainland left the East African Examinations Council in 1971 and before NECTA was established by law in 1973.
Examinations became NECTA’s duty in line with the legislation when it was established. The Curriculum remained under the Ministry of Education and Dar es Salaam University College until 1975, when it was taken over by the newly founded, independent Institute of Curriculum Development (ICD), which was renamed the Tanzania Institute of Education in 1993. Mr. P. P Gandye, who was recruited in 1972 and subsequently promoted as Executive Secretary in 1994, was one of the first NECTA employees hired between 1972 and 1976. Other staff members continued to be hired, particularly when NECTA’s headquarters relocated from the Ministry of Education to its current location in Kijitonyama, near Mwenge. NECTA employs more than 250 people at the moment. NECTA Matokeo Ya Form Four 2022/2023

NECTA was formed as a result of Tanzania Mainland’s withdrawal from the East African Exams Council (EAEC) in April 1971, in order to run her own examinations.
In 1970, Zanzibar left the EAEC. Tanzania sat for overseas Secondary School Examinations jointly conducted by the East African Syndicate between 1968 and 1971, which were previously administered by the Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate alone. The School Certificate and Higher School Certificate Examinations were held by the Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate at the time.
African students first took the School Certificate Examinations in 1947, and the Higher School Certificate Examinations in 1960. CSEE Results 2022/2023
