M3GAN Filming Locations: Where was the Sci-Fi Horror Film Shot?
The film was mainly shot in Auckland, New Zealand, and Los Angeles. The filming began in early July 2021 and concluded in mid-August in the same year. The crew then went for some reshoots in the next few months. Here are all the locations where the filming of M3GAN took place:

Auckland, New Zealand
The major portion of the film was taped in the Auckland region of New Zealand. The cast and crew shot in the suburbs of the region, which gave the feel of Denver, Colorado. The team utilized a number of sites in the region for the shoot, including the Auckland University of Technology, the Auckland Showgrounds, and Cornwall Park.
A scientific research facility in the suburban area of Maungakiekie / One Tree Hill in Auckland also served as a filming location. Some key scenes were also recorded in Farm Cove, Warkworth town, and a house in the Sunnyhills suburb.
Allison Williams, who stars as Gemma in the film, opened up about her filming experience in New Zealand in a recent interview and said, “The shoot was fascinating. We filmed in New Zealand in the summer of 2021, when COVID was still everywhere.”
“New Zealand had nearly zero cases, and to go to New Zealand, you had to spend two weeks in a quarantined hotel in isolation. All of us who came from outside of New Zealand went through that. Then, once you came out of that hotel, it was just like the old world that we all remember. It was kind of amazing. We shot it really quickly,” she added.
Los Angeles, California
A few sequences were also shot in Los Angeles. The production team commenced the first schedule of the shoot from LA in July 2021. The production companies behind the film, Blumhouse Productions and Atomic Monster Productions, are both based in the city.
LA is the largest city in California and is known for its serene beaches, buzzing downtown, and Hollywood. A number of recent films, including Blonde, Purple Hearts, and Moonfall, were also filmed in the city.
Montreal, Quebec
Montréal, the largest city in Canada’s Québec province, also served as a filming location. Montréal is the second most populous city in the country and is an economically important region. The city has previously hosted the filming of John Wick: Chapter 2, X-Men: Days of Future Past, and White House Down.
Poughkeepsie, New York
The cast and crew of M3GAN were also spotted filming some scenes in Poughkeepsie city. The city is located in the Hudson River Valley Area and serves as the county seat of New York’s Dutchess County. Earlier, films like The Time Machine and What We Found were also shot in Poughkeepsie.
