His first play, “I Know I’ve Been Changed,” was a hit in Atlanta, Georgia, and led to several more productions, including “Diary of a Mad Black Woman” and “Madea’s Family Reunion.”
In 2005, Perry adapted “Diary of a Mad Black Woman” into a film, which was released by Lionsgate and became a box office success. This was followed by several other Madea films, including “Madea’s Family Reunion,” “Madea Goes to Jail,” and “Madea’s Big Happy Family.” In addition to the Madea films, Perry has also written and produced several other films, including “Why Did I Get Married?” and “For Colored Girls.”
