Manchester United clinched all three points against Wolves on New Years’ Eve courtesy of a solitary Marcus Rashford goal after coming off the bench. The England international was named among the substitutes but emerged in the second half to make the difference.

United’s first big chance arrived on ten minutes, as Christian Eriksen’s near post corner was attacked well by Casemiro but the effort was deflected over.
On 17 minutes, Alejandro Garnacho, in for Rashford, was played through by Eriksen and, after initially failing to control the ball, Semedo’s short back pass was seized upon. But with just Jose Sa to beat, his finish was tame and the Portuguese goalkeeper made the save with his legs.

Wolves defended well and were decent on the ball but struggled to create much to threaten David de Gea.
