In a new photo posted to his Instagram, Timothée Chalamet reveals one of the sets of Dune: Part 2, the highly anticipated sequel to Denis Villeneuve’s 2021 science fiction transhumanist epic. Like its predecessor, the upcoming film is based on the seminal 1965 novel of the same name by Frank Herbert and is expected to primarily cover the latter half of the intergalactic epic. Set in the distant future, Dune is a hero’s journey following the young Paul Atreides, played by Chalamet, who is born into a noble but endangered family and must confront his destiny by traveling to the most dangerous planet in the universe to protect the continued survival of his people.
Ahead of its 2023 release, Dune star Chalamet takes to his Instagram to tease one of the desolate sets of Dune: Part 2. This is not the first time Chalamet has reportedly flaunted the colossal set of the two-part epic, filmed primarily in Budapest. Just last week Bones and All director, Luca Guadagnino revealed his visit to the young actor and co-star Zendaya on the movie’s set.

Everything We Know About Dune 2
While fans still have a long wait ahead of Dune: Part 2’s late 2023 release, the extent of global excitement and speculation around the sequel has ensured the reveal of many of its most exciting details. Picking up after the shocking losses of most of Paul’s family and the majority of the House of Astreides’ forces, the follow-up film is set to follow the young protagonist as he and his mother (Rebecca Ferguson) join forces with the Fremen to seek justice against the Harkonnens and conspirators who destroyed his family. This second installment promises to be even stronger and more exciting than its predecessor, with even director Dennis Villeneuve sharing at the time of its announcement that Dune: Part 2 is “only the beginning,” of what is expected to turn into a full-fledged science-fiction franchise.
Villeneuve and Chalamet have also heavily hinted that fans have an incredible cast of actors to look forward to this time around. Chani, played by Zendaya, is expected to have a more prevalent role in Dune: Part 2, as she reunites with Paul. This comes as reassuring news to fans who were disappointed by the Euphoria actress’ minimal presence in the first film, especially after being so heavily highlighted in its initial promotional material.
Furthermore, Dune: Part 2 will see new faces alongside Zendaya and Chalamet. Fellow young A-listers joining the cast include Elvis’s Austin Butler as antagonist Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen and Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan Corrino, as well as movie industry veterans Christopher Walken as Emperor Shaddam IV and Léa Seydoux as Lady Margot. Dune: Part 2 is set to open exclusively in theaters worldwide on November 17, 2023.
