Alice in Borderland, which recently returned with its second season, is being loved by the audience for its thrilling storyline, power-packed action sequences, and visual effects. The show follows the story of two friends, Arisu and Usagi, who are entrapped in an alternate dimension and are forced to take part in deadly games.

The whole parallel dimension thing gives the show a unique look and feel, leaving fans wondering where the series was actually filmed. Here are all the details of all the places which served as the backdrop for shooting Alice in Borderland season 2.

Alice in Borderland Season 2 Filming locations explored

The new season of the show has been shot completely in Japan. The cast and crew traveled to different regions of the county to film different sequences. The filming began in late 2021 and wrapped up by March 2022. The complete details of the filming locations are as below:

Kanto, Japan

Kanto is a geographical region in Japan on Honshu, the largest island in the country. The major portion of the new season was shot in the Greater Tokyo Area in Kanto. The production team utilized different parts of the area, including the now-closed Toshimaen amusement park in Nerima, Odaiba, Kabukicho, and Rainbow Bridge.

The cast and crew were also spotted at the Shibuya Mark City in Shibuya and around the district of Dōgenzaka. Some scenes were also shot at Ashikaga Scramble Studio in Ashikaga, Tochigi. The studio was utilized to create the Shibuya station.

A set was also created at the Shibuya scramble intersection. Some scenes were taped Fukutomi-Cho, Yokohama, at a local store, and in Kawasaki and Kawaguchi. Kanto region is considered the center of Japan’s economy and politics. It is also the most populous region in Japan, housing almost a third of the country’s population.

Before Alice in Borderland, Hollywood projects like Inception, Lost in Translation, Kill Bill, The Last Samurai, shopping mode Resident Evil: Afterlife, Pacific Rim, The Wolverine, and Godzilla were also filmed in the Kanto region.

Kansai, Japan

The production team set up their camp at Kansai, another region in Japan on Honshu island. The filming took place in a hotel in Shiga’s Otsu City, in an apartment complex at 4-2 Koeidai, Kobe-shi in Hyogo, Kita-ku, and at the Kita-Suzurandai Station on the Shintetsu Arima Line.

The cities of Wakayama and Osaka also served as major filming locations for Alice in Borderland Season 2. Kansai region is famous for its Buddhist temples and national parks. It is the second most populated region in Japan after Kanto.

The cast and crew also traveled to other regions of Japan to shoot some key scenes. The team reportedly set their base in Toyama and Aichi in the Chūbu region. Chūbu is known for its vast coastlines and scenic mountain ranges. It also comprises Mount Fuji. The city of Fukuoka, on Japan’s Kyushu Island, is also said to have hosted the show’s team.
