The preliminary results of the Kenyan general election held yesterday, show that the candidate of Kenya Kwanza and Deputy President, William Ruto is leading with 50.85 percent while his closest rival Raila Odinga of Azimio La Umoja has 48.52 percent.
Although still the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission of Kenya
(IEBC) has not announced the overall results, Ruto continues to be at the top with 680,535 votes against Odinga’s 649,769 votes.
• The results have shown a fierce competition with IEBC showing that 91 percent of the results from the centers have reached them and announced them.
As a result, some of Ruto’s supporters have been taking to the streets to celebrate the victory while claiming that there is no possibility of Odinga overturning the results and winning.
