Saturday night live has had 47 seasons since it was created by its founder Lorne Michaels. It must be every comedian’s dream in the world to be in one of the successful shows like SNL.

So here is what it takes to be on SNL.

Firstly, it has to be understood that SNL doesn’t hold open auditions, so there are different to getting a cast on SNL than waiting for an audition announcement.

1. Get involved in comedy groups

Since there are no open auditions, one must get involved in comedy groups either from schools or local areas and show what you have, if you can write then make sure it’s solid, and if you can act then make sure you are great at it because SNL only cast the real talents and of course the great ones.

2. Do stand-up comedies and social media.

SNL has scouts in a lot of places, so if you get a chance to do a show do it knowing you are seen or actually make sure it’s seen. Some members of SNL were famous before getting into SNL because they had their own shows on social media and other places.

It’s important to be unique and have your own comedy voice for the scouts to see and give an audition invitation.

Auditions for SNL are just five minutes long, so you have to convince the judges in five minutes what you have is important to them, mind you, the owner Lorne Michaels doesn’t like to laugh and that irritates most of the auditioning people.

Jimmy Fallon, one of the cast for the show said, he was given advice five times before getting to the stage that Lorne Michaels doesn’t laugh at all.

He was nervous and asked himself why doesn’t laugh and he makes a comedy, however, he ended up making him laugh after doing a certain impression.
