Ali Saleh Kiba, born on November 29, 1986, and widely known as Ali Kiba or King Kiba, is a renowned Tanzanian musician, songwriter, and one of East Africa’s most celebrated Bongo Flava artists.

Originally from Kigoma, Ali Kiba is not only a musical powerhouse but also the founder of Kings Music label and Crown Media Group. His influence on the Bongo Flava genre is undeniable, with a string of hits including Mwana, Aje, Chekecha Cheketua, Cinderella, Nakshi Mrembo, Usiniseme, Dushelele, Single Boy (with Lady Jaydee), Mapenzi Yana Run Dunia, Mahaba, Mama (with legendary Yvonne Chaka Chaka), and Macmuga. His iconic career has often been marked by a friendly rivalry with fellow star Diamond Platnumz.
In 2008, Ali Kiba collaborated with R. Kelly and several African artists on the One 8 project, marking a pivotal moment in his career. Since then, he has teamed up with various musical heavyweights, including Patoranking, Sauti Sol, Marioo, Nyashinski, Khaligraph Jones, and Sarkodie.

After a three-year break starting in 2011, Ali Kiba made a triumphant return in 2014 with the release of Mwana, a song that became an instant fan favorite and won him five awards at the 2015 Tanzania Music Awards. Signed under the Rockstar 4000 label owned by Christine Mosha, Ali Kiba went on to release chart-topping hits like Chekecha Cheketua, Lupe, Mvumo Wa Radi, and Aje. His song Aje, a Bongo Flava love anthem, was ranked number three on Notjustok’s list of the Best 100 Tanzanian songs of the decade (2012-2022).

In May 2016, Ali Kiba became the first East African artist signed to Sony Music. However, he left both Sony and Rockstar 4000 in 2021, launching Kings Music to support Tanzanian talents like Tommy Flavour, Vanillah, K2ga, and Abdu Kiba.
In November 2021, he released his third studio album, Only One King, which features 16 tracks, including collaborations like Salute with Rude Boy, Jealous with Mayorkun, and Washa featuring Nyashinski. The album, which Ali Kiba describes as a “Pan-African album,” went on to win Best Album at the 2022 Tanzanian Music Awards. That same night, he took home five awards, including Best Male Artist, People’s Choice, Best Music Video for Salute, Best Melodic Songwriter of the Year, and Best East African Artist.
Ali Kiba’s success at the 2022 Tanzania Music Awards made him the most awarded artist of the year, followed by Nandy and Marioo, who each took home three awards.
On March 10, 2024, Alikiba launched Crown FM 92.1, his own radio station, which broadcasts across Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar, Tanga, and Pwani, further solidifying his influence in the East African music industry.
