Yvonne Nelson’s revelation about aborting a pregnancy involving Sarkodie has shocked many. The actress opens up about the alleged abortion in chapter eight of her book, specifically on pages 88-95, which she launched on Sunday. Yvonne writes about her experience as follows:
“I had gone for a pregnancy test, seeking confirmation for what seemed to be an inevitable conclusion for any sexually active young woman who misses her monthly cycle. Accompanied by Karen, I awaited the results.”
The outcome was confirmed, leading Yvonne to a realization that was anything but amusing. It was a grave piece of information that had the potential to upend her world. She shares:
“On any other day, I might have burst into laughter, triggering a cascade of lively conversations and jokes. However, this was no laughing matter. It was a somber revelation that could turn my world upside down.”
Acknowledging that she was not solely responsible for the situation, she reached out to the man whose genetic material had fertilized her. This man is none other than Michael Owusu Addo, the renowned Ghanaian musician known as Sarkodie.
At the time, Sarkodie was an up-and-coming musician with the potential to become one of Ghana’s biggest stars, and perhaps even go beyond. Yet, his future appeared uncertain, and he was still navigating the complexities of life, with an unclear path ahead. Success was not guaranteed, and he was still reliant on his mother’s support.
Describing their relationship, Yvonne explains:
“I wouldn’t classify what had developed between us as a serious relationship. I was drawn to people in the music industry.”
Yvonne recounts in her book how she attempted to terminate the pregnancy by consuming remedies recommended by a colleague. Unfortunately, these attempts proved ineffective when a subsequent pregnancy test confirmed she was still carrying the child.
The actress eventually shares her successful experience in terminating the pregnancy, but she later expresses deep regret, considering it one of her biggest mistakes. Yvonne concludes by stating that if she could travel back in time and advise her younger self, she would have chosen to keep the child.
