The 37-year-old megastarโ€™s recent behaviour at the club, including leaving a game early because he doesnโ€™t โ€œrespectโ€ manager Erik ten Hag, has come under fire from Rooney.

In a new interview with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo claims to feel โ€œbetrayedโ€ by the Red Devils, having not been allowed to leave Old Trafford since he submitted a transfer request in the summer.

The Portuguese striker then ridiculed Rooney, who is four months younger than him but already retired. โ€œI donโ€™t know why he criticises me so badly,โ€ Ronaldo declared on Piers Morgan Uncensored on TalkTV.

โ€œProbably because he finished his career and Iโ€™m still playing at a high level. Iโ€™m not going to say that Iโ€™m looking better than him. Which is true,โ€ he added with a smile.

The Portugal captain, whoโ€™s set to play at his fifth World Cup this month, then gave his take on what Sir Alex Ferguson might think about the Red Devilsโ€™ situation, having not won a Premier League title in nearly a decade and firmly remaining behind their rivals.

โ€œHe knows better than anybody that the club is not on the path they deserve to be,โ€

He knows. Everyone knows. The people who donโ€™t see thatโ€ฆ itโ€™s because they donโ€™t want to see; they are blind.โ€
